a sad day

our rabbit Tressy has been missing for over two days now. We discovered Sunday night she had dug a hole under the fence and our neighbors saw her in their backyard, unfortunatley they did not alert us and she probably left their yard for the greater neighborhood. As we are surrounding by open space she ahs probably met with a hawk or owl. We are all pretty misty eyed here at times, especially Ben. I keep looking out the window expecting to see her nibbling grass in the backyard.
Tressy lived with us for five years and was a special family member. She was more like a cat: a litter box trained house rabbit who would come when you called her (especially if you said "treat"). She loved sitting in your lap and getting rubbies and was a wonderful playmate for Ben and all our young friends. She was always included in Sunday morning snuggles in our family bed. I keep hoping she has found a paramour and is setting up housekeeping in some blackberry bramble on the edge of our neighborhood. She could still turn up, so keep your fingers crossed. If not, she helped some beautiful wild animal survive. I guess in the end that is a good death.

My fingers are crossed for all of you!
I'm so sorry to hear that news. Losing my first pet was really hard for me too -- sorry Ben!
Oh... that's sad. I had house rabbits for many years before I got married and had my family (the rabbits were better trained!) :-). I used to let one of them run fairly free and she always came home... but there are so many dangers out there for them. Beautiful rexy. Lovely to pat. I hope she comes home soon.
Sorry guys, I am sending good thoughts your way

Claire, I am so sorry to hear about your rabbit.
Ohh, I'm so sorry to hear about that! We're hoping for the best though!
I was searching "felted wool" on google images and came across your blog. As I was perusing the page I read about Tressy. My eyes filled with tears as I read about her disappearance. I, too, hope that she has set up household with a bunny. Thinking of you. Maria -- from Charleston, South Carolina
